Job DescriptionAt ENSCO, Inc., we wish to add a skilled Meteorologist to our Mission Systems Group. As a meteorologist, you will join our meteorology team and work on a diverse list of projects. Our meteorologists work with various customers to advance and maintain operational numerical modeling capabilities and meteorological visualization. Additionally, our meteorologists work with other ENSCO teams of scientists and engineers to develop new atmospheric modeling methods and analyze weather impacts on various transport and dispersion scenarios. ENSCO projects support our nation's government and require a broad range of meteorological skills, including numerical weather prediction, transport and dispersion modeling, Python coding and plotting, statistical data analysis, and weather analysis and forecasting.Qualifications Required (Skills)The candidate must hold a MS or higher in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science, with the following attributes:- MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO OBTAIN SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE FOR WHICH YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN- Experience with Unix/Linux- Experience with atmospheric transport and dispersion models (e.g., HYSPLIT, SCIPUFF, or FLEXPART)- Basic understanding of modeling and simulation techniques for various transport and dispersion scenarios (e.g., dust, smoke, radionuclides, hazardous chemicals, etc.)- Statistical programming experience with Python or R- The ability to work independently (with supervisory direction) as well as with an interdisciplinary team- Excellent writing and verbal communication skillsQualifications Desired- An active TS/SCI security clearance- Experience with numerical weather prediction models (e.g., WRF or MPAS)- Experience with atmospheric chemistry models (e.g., WRF-Chem, CAM-Chem, CMAQ, etc.)- Experience with NCAR's Model Evaluation Tools (MET)- Ability to code in multiple languages (e.g., Fortran, C++, Rust, Python, and/or R)- Knowledge of various meteorological datasets (e.g., GFS, HRRR, NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis, ERA5, NEXRAD, etc.) and formats (e.g., GRIB2, NetCDF, PrepBUFR, etc.)- Knowledge of AI/ML methods for meteorological modeling, post-processing of ensembles, satellite data interpretation, gridded data interpolation (e.g., neural networks), etc.- Experience or education in applied statistics#LI-TL1Division DescriptionFor more than 50 years, ENSCO has been providing leading-edge engineering, science and advanced technology solutions to governments and private industries worldwide.ENSCO prides itself in creating and applying advanced technologies for mission success.
