Detailed statement of responsibilities: The selected candidate will be part of the team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department of Revenue's Linux environment and associated middleware and data tiers. This candidate will: - Install and configure Web application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, etc.) in a highly available and secure environment.
- Patch Linux servers.
- Develop, write and demonstrate procedural operations to build continuity in the systems.
- Perform timely resolution of trouble ticket queue.
- Respond to system alerts and developer requests.
- Configure monitoring of servers.
- Create monitoring scripts to enable more accurate alerting.
- Shell scripting for process automation.
- Disk assignment to ESX EMC SAN
- Create and configure VMWare clients, hosts, clusters and datastores.
- Respond to system alerts and requests for system changes as required.
- Assist developers and DBAs during their upgrade and patching functions.
- Work closely with developers and DBAs to resolve issues by assisting with logs, permissions, script alterations and new scripts to help monitor the applications. Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of expert-level solution design experience in Unix/Linux, Middleware, Database
- Strong experience in system/database/middleware administration, design & support in a large-scale environment
- Excellent understanding of overall infrastructure domain including complete network and application development stack
- Familiarity with the implementation, configuration and troubleshooting of applications hosted on Windows & Unix platforms
- Good knowledge of ESX/VMWare/SAN and other virtualization technologies/platforms
- Understanding of Enterprise automation & orchestration tools like Ansible
- Highly technical network troubleshooting skills.
- A solid understanding of X.509 certificate management.
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
- Research skills and information gathering for various products.
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as taking initiative proactively resolve issues or raise concerns when needed.
- Flexibility to work off hours/weekends, if needed.
- Proficiency with a scripting language such as Ansible.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent job experience. Experience in the following a plus :
