*Duration: *June to August*Shift Timing for weekdays: *8:30 am 4 pm*Workweek: *Thursdays- Sundays*Shift timings for weekends: *Saturday 8:30 am 4 pm; Sunday 12 pm-4 pm*Job Description:*Education Aid/Temporary (Summer)Parks and Natural Resources*Note: ** Must have the physical, developmental, and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities, and duties of the job illustrated.* The job description herein provides for the range of duties to be performed for this position.* It is not intended to reflect all duties that are required within this position. This position is seasonal during the summer months of June and August.*MAJOR FUNCTION:** Provide information and assistance to the public at Polk's Nature Discovery Center.* Prepare for, and implement environmental education programs for a variety of programs.* Maintain exhibits at Polk's Nature Discovery Center, and help with other environmental lands duties as needed. Engage visitors and the community about the value of Polk County's natural resources.* Work will be conducted at Polk's Nature Discovery Center at Circle B Bar Reserve.* Will work seasonally in the summer from June-August 2024.* A maximum of thirty hours per week, not to exceed 4 days per week.* The workweek will take place Thursdays- Sundays. Saturday and Sunday work are required, 8 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday.*ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:** Engage the public at the visitor's desk and provide educational information to visitors in the Exhibit Hall.* Provide maintenance of Polk Nature Center Discovery center's exhibits.* Prepare, organize, and assist in implementing environmental education programs with a variety of groups including but not limited to community groups, families, school groups, youth summer camp or youth summer recreation groups.* Responsible for the safety and supervision of participants.* Responsible for reporting illness and/or injury of participants immediately to staff.* Administers first aid as necessary.* Responsible for carrying out rules and procedures according to set division policies.* Responsible for inventory and proper use of equipment and supplies.* Performs related duties as required.*KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:** Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work productively as a part of a team.* Knowledge about the Florida's natural resources and the ability to communicate that to a wide range of audiences.* Ability to communicate effectively with the public and reflect the goals/mission of Polk County Parks and Natural Resources and Polk's Nature Discovery Center.* Ability to adhere to program standards and objectives, ability to organize and help implement environmental education programs, ability to help supervise large groups of children or participants.* Ability to perform various job tasks in all weather conditions and under various physical exertion and energy requirements.* Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally up to 45 pounds.*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptance equivalency diploma.* Must be 18 years of age by hire date.* Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid driver's license at the time of employment.* A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.* Must pass background level 1check and background level 2 check.*SPECIAL PREFERENCES:** Prefer persons with teacher, camp counselor, recreational program, or related work experience.* Prefer some knowledge of natural resources in Polk County.*Special Requirement:** Applicant must complete an *Affidavit of Good Moral Character *at the time of the interview.LI_TSC*About our Company: -*22nd Century Technologies, Inc., is one of the fastest growing IT Service Integrator and Workforce Solution companies in the United States.
