                    Position Summary
                    The Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, seeks to hire an Assistant Professor for a renewable-contract Assistant Professor (RCAP) in Physiology or related fields beginning August 2025. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field. The position is structured as a renewable 9 month, 3-year contract with an annual performance review that will allow for promotion through the academic ranks.

                    Detailed Position Information
                    The Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, seeks to hire a renewable-contract Assistant Professor (RCAP) teaching position in Physiology or related fields beginning August 2025. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual who is interested in teaching excellence and collaboration with lecture and laboratory experience in human anatomy and physiology and animal physiology and nutrition. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field. Teaching duties for an RCAP faculty member include lower-undergraduate core majors and non-majors courses, as well as upper-undergraduate courses in the successful candidate's area of expertise depending on the department's need. The candidate is expected to incorporate innovative teaching methodologies to enhance the learning experience of our students and achieve learning outcomes. RCAP faculty are expected to serve on department, college, and/or university committees and to participate in undergraduate advising. There is an expectation for limited research effort. The position is structured as a renewable 9 month, 3-year contract with an annual performance review that will allow for promotion through the academic ranks.

                    Minimum Qualifications
                    Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field.

The search committee will request letters of reference as needed. Consideration of applications will begin February 15th, 2025 and will continue until the position is filled. There will be a preliminary Zoom conversation with selected applicants, after which top candidates will be invited for an on-campus interview. Prior to hiring, the final candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background investigation.
