CDL Driver We are seeking an experienced and reliable CDL Driver to join our team. As a CDL Driver, you will be responsible for picking up and delivering commercial printing, newsprint and equipment ensuring that they are delivered safely and on time. You will be required to operate commercial vehicles and comply with all traffic and safety regulations. Maintain Commercial Drivers License and company vehicles as required. Essential Functions: - Delivers products, newsprint and equipment in a timely manner.
- Double-checks skids and cartons prior to shipment including labeling, skid or carton preparation.
- Keeps the production manager informed of status and progress of work and of unusual problems.
- Assists in checking the accuracy of receiving products. Assists in resolving discrepancies of delivered products.
- Works weekly with the post office representative to certify TMC mailing.
- Maintains all paperwork and abides by all rules and regulations required for a Commercial Drivers License.
- Performs maintenance and general housecleaning inside and outside the building.
- Collects documentation of shipped freight and routes to the proper recordkeeping unit.
- Operates forklift, clamp truck, shrink-wrapping machine and pallet jack once certified.
- Maintains company vehicles as required. Keeps accurate maintenance and driver logs on vehicles.
- Possesses a good driving record.
- Maintains current required CDL license with unexpired Driver's Medical Examiner's Certificate and provides DMV driving record upon request.
- Complies with the recording of driving time for accurate hours of service using the electronic logging device (ELD).
- Exceeds customer's expectations in a courteous and professional manner. A customer is anyone who contributes directly or indirectly to the revenues of the organization.
- Basic knowledge of office equipment including computers, email, fax machines, scanners and copiers.
Other responsibilities: - Participates in company safety policies and procedures.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing any customer service-related duties to the desired results as needed.
- Cross trains in other jobs for back-up purposes and related duties as assigned by management. Helps out in finishing department when needed.
- If the essential functions of the position require the employee to drive, they must provide and drive vehicle, possess a valid driver's license and necessary amount of auto insurance.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend basic instructions verbally and in writing. Education, Experience and Skills Required: - Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Good judgment and decision-making ability, both written and oral, are essential.
- Past experience with shipping and receiving operations is helpful.
- Confidentiality a must.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, flexibility and ability to work independently.
