Receiving Chemist I - Phoenix Arizona

Pay will be 22/hr. Hours: 2:30 PM - 11 PM. Summary The Receiving Chemist I is responsible for lab pack coding/processing, drum receiving/coding, and the shipping of waste materials. Key duties include verifying material counts and container sizes, performing initial sampling, and ensuring proper material tracking using barcoding systems. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards and contributes to safe and efficient waste management operations. Essential Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance - Ensure adherence to 49 CFR, 40 CFR, and facility permits.
Lab Pack Operations - Receive and code lab pack containers for disposal.
- Repack or consolidate lab packs for final disposal.
- Manage lab pack reactive materials and cylinder inventory.
- Perform lab pack bulking and process operations using proprietary software.
Drum Receiving/Coding - Sample incoming drums and conduct basic analyses.
- Calibrate and operate lab instrumentation.
- Manage drum storage, coding, and QA/QC guidelines.
- Resolve discrepancies in drum counts or shipments.
Shipping of Waste Materials - Prepare and ship drum and bulk materials to appropriate disposal outlets.
- Collaborate with logistics to stage and label outbound shipments.
Inventory and Supplies Management - Maintain supply inventory.
- Promote a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Training and Mentoring - Guide and train Receiving Technicians and Chemist I team members.
Other Duties - Conduct additional tasks as required by business needs.
Responsibilities Qualifications Education: - Minimum of 2 years of college or specialized training in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related fields.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience: - 0-3 years of related experience.
Certifications/Licenses: - 24-hour OSHA training (Required)
- Forklift training (Required)
- RCRA/DOT training (Required)
Skills: - Strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of chemistry and chemical testing.
- Proficiency in Windows-based software and waste analysis procedures.
- Experience with receiving, shipping, or lab pack processes preferred.
Qualifications Physical Requirements - Medium work: Frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
- Manual dexterity for grasping and fine manipulation.
- Visual acuity for small objects and color determination.
