- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition by the time of hireOR
- Associate's degree in Nutrition by the time of hire, and hold the Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration or be eligible and able to pass the credentialing exam within 12 months of hire with the first attempt at credentialing exam occurring within three months of hireWe Also Value

- Provide one-on-one nutrition counseling for participants such asnutrition assessments, participant-centered nutrition counseling and education, documentation of nutrition care plan, and breastfeeding education
- Assess eligibility and certify participants for the WIC program, including determination of WIC benefits, performing and interpreting hemoglobin screening tests, and accurate anthropometric measurements
- Assign and issue appropriate food benefits, documents, and assure accuracy of participant files, and refer participants to other local and state agencies as needed
- Conduct group nutrition education, including facilitated group discussions both in-person and on online platformsWorking Conditions
- Work is performed in an office environment with a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
- May be assigned to work at alternate WIC sites, as needed
- Ability to travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies using a County or private vehicle
- Ability to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
- Ability to exert 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly
- Position is not 100% telework, there is an option to work in a shared clinic space, or time may be split between working remotely from home and in a shared clinic space. Home access to a computer, mobile device, and the internet is necessary if splitting time between home and office. Daily communication with co-workers will be through virtual meetings, email, and Microsoft Teams messaging. Participant interactions will include remote appointments via video, phone, and in-person appointments
- Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis testSelection Procedure
