Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. - Raytheon Missiles and Defense is seeking an engineering professional to work with a variety of programs as a contributor to, and manager of, engineers performing detailed design, simulation, product development, and initial product testing. The Effector RF Products Department is currently searching for Electrical Engineers who have experience designing RF and Microwave hardware and subsystems, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters. This role includes design and test activities that span preliminary design to integration, as well as management of a section of RF hardware engineers. Products we develop support radar and datalink applications on a variety of tactical missile programs. Responsibilities will be split between supporting RF Products program(s) as an engineer (-85%) and providing functional support to the section "Circuit Card Assembly Electronics" (-15%). - This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ. What You Will Do As a Section Leader, your responsibilities include working closely with the Effector RF Products Department Leader and other Section Leaders to align the department with company direction. Section Leaders are trustworthy and accountable, willing and able to coach and mentor section members and hold critical conversations. - Other responsibilities include the following: - Support hiring (resume reviews, interviews, etc.)
- Support and/or drive department initiatives and goals
- Promote collaboration across functional and program boundaries
- Balance staffing needs and align with section member career growth
- Model and drive Raytheon values and behaviors
- Support section member performance, career development, and growth throughout the
- Elicit and compile performance feedback to support Performance Development
- Hold required formal Mid-Year and Year-End Performance Development (PD) discussions where complied feedback, and key strengths and development needs are conveyed.
- Help formulate, discuss, and document goals with each employee on an annual, and as-needed basis. A an Engineer in this section you will:
- Design and development of transmitters, receivers or exciters, including RF/mixed signal circuit card design, component design, and/or subsystem design.
- Design and optimize RF circuits - either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.).
- Work in a lab to accomplish component characterization as well as module verification and integration
- Test and handle sensitive RF Hardware
- Work with interdisciplinary teams such as power, digital, mechanical, etc.
- Schematic capture and RF CCA routing Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of ten years of prior relevant experience to include any combination of the following:
- RF design and fabrication
- RF test and troubleshoot
- Simulation of RF products
- At least ten years of experience with any of the following tools:
- Mentor DX Designer or equivalent
- High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) or equivalent
- SystemVue/Genesys or equivalent
- Advanced Design System (ADS) -or equivalent
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer
- Mentorship or apprenticeship experience -
- Technical oversight responsibilities for less-senior engineers
- Working across domains on complex projects
- Architecting and requirements definition for complex RF products
- Team lead experience on technical projects including experience w/ cost and schedule
- EVMS or CAM experience
- Strong technical and interpersonal skills with desire to continuously learn and improve
- Ability to prepare documentation with minimal oversight
- Solid communication and teaming skills with a focus on collaboration
- Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints. - Includes yield and margin analysis
- Strong problem solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges
