This position works closely with other members of the Docket Department to maintain the Firm's docket system. Responsibilities and Skills: - Performs electronic legal docketing via docketing software (CompuLaw) from court documents, correspondence, rules, and statutes; proven ability to independently research dates when necessary to supplement automated information.
- Intermediate knowledge and application of County, State, and U.S. District Court rules and regulations.
- Receives and reviews documents (correspondence, emails, forms, pleadings, etc.) submitted to the Docket Department for processing; determines the method of service; utilizes CompuLaw and its incorporated rule sets to automatically calculate due dates, deadlines, and/or events in accordance with the appropriate rules; manually modifies docket event descriptions as requested and/or required; manually overrides resulting due dates, deadlines, and/or events as necessary. Advises attorneys and staff accordingly.
- Proofreads and reviews calendar entries to ensure accuracy.
- Must have accurate typing and word processing skills and the ability to pay strict attention to detail. Spelling, punctuation, and use of grammar must be accurate.
- Must have strong organizational skills, exercise attention to detail, and be able to work well under pressure.
- Must be an excellent communicator with strong reasoning and memory skills.
- A service-oriented individual who is able to work independently in a well-organized manner.
