Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Stepdown in Cardiopulmonary Telemetry & Neuro Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend; First to Float Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Per Week Experience: Minimum of 2 Years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - EKG Monitoring Skills Job Description: - Dysrhythmia Exams required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance of the position. Candidates have a maximum of two attempts. - Includes a pass/fail Sim Lab on the first day of orientation. - Must have a minimum of 2 years of Stepdown unit experience. No exceptions. - Restricted from being full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with certain health systems within the past year. - The unit has 30 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4. - Skills in titrating drips are required, including cardiac, heparin, Lasix, Bumex, etc. - Charge Nurse available with no patient assignment; also assisted by a manager. - One patient care technician per 15 patients on the floor. - Includes working with RT equipment such as Nasal Cannula and BiPap/Cpap for obstructive sleep apnea only. - RNs are required to interpret EKGs with the use of centralized tele. Familiarity with tele monitors necessary. - Offers self-scheduling with 12-hour shifts, running from 7-7. - Requires working every other weekend. - Coverage for two major holidays and two minor holidays, depending on contract dates. - Should be prepared for floating to any telemetry floor as needed. - Dress code is Navy scrubs. - Two days of unit/department-specific orientation. - Common diagnoses and patient types include CHF and general telemetry, fluid overload, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, and alcohol use disorders. - Hospital may cancel up to three times per contract, which could include full or partial shifts.
