  • Weekly Orientations, Mondays, except for holiday weeks
  • Candidates can NOT work another assignment/contract while working for Dignity AZ (Cannot work two contracts at the same time)
  • Must be gone from commonspirit for 12 months as perm staff, to be considered for a travel assignment

  • ONBOARDING DUE 1pm CST WEDNESDAY BEFORE START. THE FACILITY WILL NOT ALLOW ANYTHING TO BE PENDING, AND THEY WILL PUSH THE TRAVELER BACK IF THE FILE IS NOT COMPLETE BY THE DEADLINE.

  • Parking: Assigned to a parking lot, and then will be shuttled to the facility. Night shift: Assigned to a parking garage
  • Travelers can be expected to have nursing students, this is a teaching hospital
  • Facility highlight: Located in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, St. Joseph's is a 607 bed, nationally recognized center for quality tertiary care, medical education and research. Lung transplant specialty. Liver and Kidney Transplant as well. Associated with the Barrow Neuro Institute, world's #1 institute.
  • All profiles must include: Unit size, Hospital size, Trauma Level, EMR(cerner experience)
  • 2 years of CORE experience required in specialty being submitted to; Level 1 Trauma and Teaching experience required
  • Facility will not consider any contract shorter than 13 weeks
  • Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48hrs prior to acceptance of a position. Maximum attempts is 2: Required for: Ambulance Transport, Cardiac Cath Lab, ICU, CVICU, EP Lab, ER, Helicopter Transport (Flight), House Supervisor, PACU/Recovery, PCU, PICU, Pre-op/PACU, Stepdown, Telemetry/IMC, Transitional ICU/TCU units. IF FAILED, will be DNU for 6 months within Commonspirit AZ and Sacramento Region

    Job Requirements
    • 2 years ICU experience required
    • Must have experience in 600+ bed teaching facility
    • MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXP
      Schedule Information
      • 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
      • Work in with core staff rotation
      • 12 hour shifts 7-7
      • ICU Travelers will be required to float amongst all ICU areas, as well as any MedSurg/Tele units. The expectation is not that they specialize in everything & take the most acute patients in every area, but rather that they can function independently when floated to an outside area. Travelers must understand that they will be floated & will not have an opportunity to refuse, stating that they "don't do" or "won't do" in regards to floating. CNM must document traveler's understanding of this on the prescreen interview form.
      • Also could be asked to float to St. Joseph Westgate campus

        • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2
        • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: All Trauma patients, MVAs, GSW, closed head injuries, ortho trauma, etc.
          Additional Details
          • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
          • Medical Solutions Pre-Screens, if clinical recommends, sends to manager for approval to offer, no 2nd interview
          • Unit size: 40 beds- is in same area as SICU and TICU. Entire area has 120 beds.
          • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2
          • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Sepsis, GI Bleed, DKA, RotaProne Therapy, Heat Stroke, OD (most are intubated and have a sitter when extubated), Correction patients (shackled and guarded)
          • Charge Nurse- Does not take patients
          • Intensivist 24/7
          • RNs required to read and interpret their own strips
          • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy
          • Unit/Department specific orientation: 2 shifts on the floor
