Salary Range: $20.25 per hour Job Description: ASU Parking and Transit Services is seeking to fill a Maintenance Technician position at our Downtown Phoenix Campus. The Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance on equipment, repairs parking mechanisms, and checks the status of the gate boxes and all equipment located in the structures on campus. Essential Duties: Routinely checks gate boxes and equipment in all parking structures on the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and programming of various devices, including pay-by-space machines, meters, gate boxes, and pay-on-foot machines. Installs parking-related equipment such as speed bumps, bollards, and delineators. Dispatched to repair equipment in the field and assist customers as necessary. Performs maintenance duties, including lot striping, barricading, and cleaning, during a normal workday. Releases vehicle immobilizers on impounded vehicles in the field. Conducts pre-operational inspections of carts, trucks, power washers, painting equipment, and sweepers prior to use. Performs light maintenance on golf carts, including battery watering, tire changes, vehicle washing, and cart bulb replacement. Conducts inspections of parking lots and structures. Accurately records all activities completed during the workday and submits an activity log at the end of the shift. Submits completed work orders or additional documentation to the supervisor at the end of the shift. Tracks and reports inventory of supplies, including paint, parts, tools, etc. Reviews required materials with the supervisor to determine equipment or materials needed for projects. Installs signs following ADA regulations for height, PTS standards, and correct use of poles and bases; maintains inventory of supplies and equipment for sign installation. Performs general upkeep of parking structures, surface lots, and walking paths, including sweeping, power washing, painting, and removing cobwebs with a duster/extension pole. Participates in graffiti abatement by removing or painting over affected areas as needed. Collects recyclable materials, places them in appropriate containers, moves containers to curbside for weekly pickup, and retrieves them afterward. Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required. Conducts analysis and prepares reports. Uses math skills for job-related tasks. Repairs equipment as needed. Completes manual and electronic forms. Tracks data for reporting purposes. Prepares correspondence as needed. Cross-trained in other functions to provide optimum customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications: Two years prior experience in a maintenance position Knowledge of basic maintenance repair. Skill in diagnosing problems in basic mechanical equipment. Evident knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. One year parking industry experience. Knowledge of ASU campus and parking areas. Skill in handling cash. Experience in communicating and interacting with the public. Experience with high levels of customer service resolution practices. A valid Arizona Driver's License, an MVR will be conducted. Working Environment: Works in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rainy, dusty, windy, dirty). Walks and stands for extensive periods of time. Uses office equipment. Uses a computer. Uses a two-way radio. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Drives an ASU vehicle/golf cart which requires getting in and out of the vehicle frequently. Employee must possess a valid US Driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment. May be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed including use of safety equipment. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
