This position will be based on the Stanford campus and is currently a hybrid of working on-site and working from home, subject to operational need.The (AIMI) at Stanford University is an internationally recognized powerhouse of clinical, academic, and technological innovation with a mission to develop and support transformative medical AI research and clinical applications to improve human health. Our community is committed to positively transforming healthcare-and the world-through outstanding science, interdisciplinary academic and industry collaborations, IT and data infrastructure development, and education for AI/machine learning research.The AIMI Center seeks an IT project manager (Project Manager 2 - IT) with deep domain knowledge and experience in health informatics to provide complex project management and technical support to AIMI research projects, programs and initiatives. The PM-IT will bring highly specialized knowledge and expertise to manage multiple projects/programs, interfacing with our research team, our clinical and non-clinical partners, corporate partners, and institutional stakeholders.Duties include: - Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.
- Direct development and participate in execution of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.
- Facilitate discussions and negotiations with partners to drive recommendation consensus within scope of responsibility.
- Provide instruction on complex techniques and direction on projects.
- Ensure work completion within schedule, budgetary and design constraints; make decisions about analysis, design, and testing; solve complex technical problems; and provide alternative methods for achieving goals when necessary.
- Create and execute business and technical plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to leverage the university/school's resources for successful project completion.
- Share responsibility and planning for the creation and maintenance of a unique petabyte-scale repository of clinical images used for artificial intelligence research, as well as dataset sharing platforms.
- Oversee and/or assist in preparation and submission of documentation, such as proposals, progress reports, or other contractual requirements.
- Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
- Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function.
- May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. May also supervise staff.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a health care environment within a large health system or academic medical center, or with health information technology standards and tools, such as FHIR, HL7 and DICOM
- Experience with clinical data and images, human subjects research, and research data management and privacy practices
- Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills in diverse situations.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering, healthcare, or other related) and minimum five years of progressively responsible, relevant project management experience performing duties similar to those listed above.
- Experience in management of information technology research and/or development projects of extensive size/complexity with moderate performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- Experience leading large, complex projects or programs.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work and to manage multiple projects.
- Exceptional and effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
- Experience leading and managing a large organization of technical staff.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of health care and/or university operations, administration, community, and mission.
- Ability to productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.
- Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
- Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:Project Management Professional (PMP) certified completion of a Project Management Certificate program, or certification in process.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
