Job Details
• A hospital near Sacramento is looking for an experienced Neuro MedSurg/Tele for a travel contract. The right candidate will hold several certifications and a CA License.
  Job Requirements
  • 2 years of experience
  • Active BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • An active CA License
  • Prefer CNRN or SCRN certification
  • Able to read and interpret EKG strips
    Schedule Information
    • 12 hr shifts
    • Shift starts at 6:45
    • Report at the bedside
    • OT and extra shifts are available
    • Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it
    • Schedules are out 4 weeks
    • Travelers can access their schedules from home
    • Travelers can make themselves 'available' for extra shifts and make trades with other staff
    • Block scheduling is generally not available
    • Every other weekend requirement
    • Rotate in with core staff for holidays
      Unit Specific Information
      • Unit: MST Neuroscience Unit (5T)
      • Number of beds in unit: 30
      • Nurse to patient ratios: 1 to 4-5
      • Charge Nurse does not generally take patients but will do break relief
      • Nurse Aides available as dictated by census and staffing
      • May float to all other Sacramento facilities, tele and MedSurg floors
      • Floor specific orientation: 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptor
      • Common diagnosis/types of patients: CVA, neuro surgical, neuro medical, and MST overflow patients
        Additional Details
        • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required
        • Sup refs needed at submittal: 1 within 12 months & 1 within 3 years worked
        • Modules required before start of assignment, taking on average 3-4 hours
        • Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years)
        • Holiday time off considered but not guaranteed
        • Dysrhythmia exam (BASIC) through UNA is required to be taken and passed within 48 hours post-acceptance More...
