Position Profile

The Operations Engineering Support Manager is charged with maintaining the engineering requirements for the BEGA NA product line and partnering with the operations team to optimize quality and manufacturing efficiency from the product side. This includes engineering documentation, design changes required by BEGA NA, design changes required by BEGA DE, maintain safety agency files, lead safety agency audits and address any concerns, lead the document control effort and team and be a strong partner to the operations team in maintaining and improving their ability to efficiently produce high quality products. The role works closely with our Manufacturing and Design Engineering Departments to improve quality, reliability, and manufacturability of the product portfolio. This position reports to the VP of Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong design engineering background, Solid Works Experience, engineering change control expertise, safety agency interaction experience, proven cross functional team success, proven collaboration success and proven leadership success with excellent communication skills.

What you will do

--- Two immediate focusses:

o Improve and lead the companies document control efforts including part creation in ERP, drawing and BOM accuracy and maintenance, SolidWorks PDM vault set up and maintenance and ECO process.

o All Sustaining Engineering efforts needed to support BEGA NA operations including collaboration to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency and cost reductions.

--- Three longer term focusses:

o Advance the company's level of expertise and efficiency in managing our safety agency commitments

o Advance the company's ability to design and produce LED Module options

o Evaluate new technology relevant to improving our product transitions to North America

--- Evaluate ECO/ECR request from manufacturing for quality, cost and inventory impact.

--- Conduct factory inspection with CSA and UL liaisons.

--- Mange a team of document control personnel.

--- Improve overall product quality by studying, evaluating, and implementing alternative product designs.

--- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

--- Protect and promote the BEGA brand by ensuring Quality in everything we do.

--- Ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

--- In-depth knowledge of applicable UL standards and NEC codes as they pertain to the construction and installation of lighting products.

--- Strong mechanical design skills.

--- Proficient use of 3D solid modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).

--- Successful completion of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field required.

--- Minimum 15 years of combined design engineering experience and engineering leadership in the lighting industry.

--- Advance knowledge of electrical installation within the construction industry and electronic componentry used in lighting.

--- Experience with lighting controls highly preferred.

--- Experience building and leading effective teams, both direct reports and across departments. More...
