    The Human Resources Generalist II serves as administrator for several critical human resources functions and workforce management, including employee/labor relations, workplace health and safety, compensation, training, employee engagement, and employee records. Drafts, facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures labor law and regulatory compliance. Provides support to managers to deliver required human resources. May evaluate, select, and oversee vendors that provide supplemental HR processes and services. Coordinates with HR support staff to process and maintain employment, attendance, HRIS systems and other records.

    Essential Functions:

    • Assist in the creation and execution of personnel policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with key regulations, including but not limited to EEO, ADA, CFRA/FMLA, DOT, OFCCP, Cal-OSHA, and MSHA.
    • Identify, resolve, and mitigate organizational risks related to HR compliance activities.
    • Conduct audits of employee records to ensure adherence to labor laws and maintain updated documentation.
    • Review and maintain accurate employee files to ensure all necessary documentation is current and complete.
    • Manage employee relations, including handling complaints, harassment claims, discrimination issues, and workplace violence investigations.
    • Provide guidance to employees and managers on employee performance, discipline, and conflict resolution.
    • Partner with managers on rewards, recognition and disciplinary measures including suspensions, separations or drafting/editing corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with legal on complex cases, such as harassment investigations or employee terminations.
    • Maintain detailed reports outlining investigation findings, conclusions, and recommended actions.
    • Collaborate with key operational departments to identify training needs for succession planning and employee development.
    • Update compliance-related materials, such as employee handbooks, safety protocols, and training resources.
    • Work with HR support staff to benchmark best practices for HRIS system development.
    • Lead data analysis and timely submission of compliance reports (e.g., Vets, EEO-1, Pay Equity, AAP Certification, and Diversity Outreach).

      Non-Essential Duties:

      • Partner with HR Director on the compensation program; monitor the performance evaluation program and make recommendations for revision as necessary.
      • Ensure I-9 compliance in designated region of responsibility by auditing and documenting the process.
      • Assist with onboarding and HRIS maintenance.
      • Participate in other special HR projects and assignments as needed.
      • Report potentially unsafe conditions.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

        • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
        • Demonstrated project management skills and a successful track record for bringing highly complex, cross-functional projects to completion.
        • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

          Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
          This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position is not eligible for remote work.
          Travel Required: 25%
          Preferred Education and Experience:

          • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
          • 5+ years of HR experience in a leadership role.
          • Bilingual - Spanish, a plus.
          • PHR - PHR -CA.
          • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of applications.
