Every day, our staff-of all ages and from diverse backgrounds and life experiences-are transforming lives through YMCA programs for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.About the JobPOSITION SUMMARYBayview Hunters Point YMCA is seeking a Credential Teacher Specialist for programs at: - Burton High School - 400 Mansell St, San Francisco, CA 94134YMCA After School Credential Teacher Specialist provides meaningful and enriching opportunities for youth in YMCA programs. The Specialist will help students develop and strengthen academic and social skills by providing assistance, tutoring, and mentorship in the PACE After School Program. The Specialist will provide academic enrichment and tutoring in classroom groups of up to 20 students via small group and individual supports. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Program Site Coordinators and Directors, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.Salary range: $30-$40/hourMinimum Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years of age
- Must hold a valid teaching credential and currently teach at the school
- Must have experience working with high school youth
- Must be highly motivated to provide quality program opportunities to youth
- Must be a team player
- Knowledge or expertise in youth development
- Must be comfortable leading physical activities with youth
- Must be available daily Monday-Friday during youth program hours; varies 2:00-6:00 pm
- Must be willing to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as needed
- Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (may complete upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance
- TB Test clearancePreferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages strongly preferred
- Knowledge of high school level Math, Science, English, and/or History
- Connections in the local Bayview or San Francisco communityAll employees working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationships over minors.
