We are a collaborative, basic and translational research laboratory interested in developing new treatments for patients with malignancies of the central nervous system. We are a multi-disciplinary research group with expertise in functional genomics (engineered CRISPR/Cas9 systems), advanced in vivo disease modeling, epigenetics, single cell genomics and multiomics, biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. Ongoing projects include, but are not limited to, in vivo CRISPR/Cas9 screens in brain tumor models, spatial transcriptomics of clinical specimens and experimental model systems incorporating artificial intelligence and foundation models, molecular mechanisms of radiation and chemotherapy resistance with focus on the DNA damage response, and development of novel genetic and epigenetic editing technologies for in vivo application. The candidate will have the opportunity to combine preclinical cancer models and patient clinical samples with advanced functional genomics techniques such as in vivo CRISPR/Cas9 screens and single cell multiomics (gene expression and chromatin profiling). The candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with other laboratories in the UCSF Brain Tumor Center, across UCSF, as well as collaborators at Stanford and UC Berkeley. This position is ideal for a motivated individual with strong experimental and communication skills who has the desire to gain extensive research experience as a member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, including the resources and opportunity to develop their own independent research. Experience with molecular biology, mouse models of cancer, and functional genomics are desired but not required. Willingness to learn new techniques is expected. |
