Array Labs is creating a distributed low Earth orbit radar imaging constellation to power the first accurate, real-time 3D model of the world. Our next-generation satellite architecture offers a revolutionary approach to Earth observation, enabling unprecedented levels of data accuracy, temporal resolution, and insight. We're seeking a visionary Head of Engineering to lead our technical teams in building and advancing this transformative technology.As the Head of Engineering at Array Labs, you will be a critical driver of our mission to create the world's most advanced Earth-imaging constellation. Leading a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll oversee all phases of satellite system design, testing, and deployment, from initial concept to operational maturity. This role requires both technical expertise and strategic vision to advance our constellation and bring real-time, high-resolution data to a variety of industries.Responsibilities: - Shape the engineering strategy for Array Labs, driving innovation and ensuring our technical roadmap aligns with our mission.
- Provide leadership and direct all engineering disciplines, including hardware, software, RF systems, and satellite operations.
- Lead all stages of the satellite development lifecycle, from conceptual design to post-launch operations. Ensure projects meet the highest quality standards, schedule, and budget.
- Work closely with Product, Operations, Business Development, and R&D teams, as well as external partners, to align on technical and operational objectives.
- Collaborate with launch providers and ground station operators to ensure successful mission execution.
- Build a high-performing engineering team by recruiting, mentoring, and inspiring top talent. Promote a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Define engineering best practices to drive efficiency, reduce risk, and maximize system performance. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols across all engineering activities.Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field); Ph.D. preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace, satellite, or related engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex engineering projects from inception to launch and operations.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a hands-on approach to overcoming technical challenges.Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering field.
- Deep knowledge of radar imaging, RF systems, or distributed satellite constellation management.
- Advanced understanding of orbital mechanics, formation flight, and satellite mission planning.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols used in the earth observation satellite industry.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, including working through design requirements, test acceptance, and verification.
- Demonstrated success leading the development and launch of at least one earth observation satellite.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with simulation and system design tools such as Python, MATLAB, and C++.ITAR Requirements:
