Anticipated Start Date: January 21, 2025 POSITION DESCRIPTION Taft College is seeking a pool of qualified candidates with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and staff to provide high quality programs and services for our students. Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed (as specified in Education Code 8748.25). We are seeking lecturers with the ability to teach in the above area for inclusion in a pool for the 2025 Spring semester. Note: Taft College is seeking an instructor for an asynchronous online lecture class for our baccalaureate completion program, Dental Hygiene (DNTL) 4040, Health Education Methods and Practice (3 units). Course Description: The study of education theories and principles for didactic, lab and clinical courses. The faculty role in active teaching and learning, development of critical thinking and reflective writing skill, development of curriculum, outcomes and competencies, and course delivery methods. Theory and practices of clinical instruction and supervision related to psychomotor skill development, competency-based evaluation, student mentoring and remediation. Examination of organizational and administrative philosophy and practice in curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation based on accreditation standards. Prepares the dental hygienist to become a successful educator in a dental hygiene program by addressing areas such as: learning theories, teaching strategies, learning objectives, lesson plans, syllabi, curriculum design, evaluation tools, and roles of an educator. QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications for this adjunct lecturer pool can be met with a Master's degree in Dental Technology, Health, Education, or a related field. Must show a demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree or doctoral degree in Dentistry, Health, or a related field.
