Formed in 1983, the department has evolved significantly, currently comprising 27 faculty members, 8 staff members, and a growing student population.Position SummaryThe Research & Development Engineer 2 will identify, procure, and integrate a cluster sensor into a potable water treatment system. Additional duties include research and development of physics-based models of water quality and statistical machine learning algorithms.Salary & Compensation*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors such as budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are uncommon. Visit for benefits starting on day one, and to calculate total compensation value with benefits.Qualifications Strong water quality analytical background and lab experience (Required) Experience developing algorithms to interpret directly measured water quality data (Preferred) Strong analytical background (Preferred) Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (Preferred) Time management and organizational skills (Preferred)Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in a related area and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required) Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering or equivalent (Preferred)Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
