Overview The program chair role is a full-time leadership role at the SON. The role encompasses oversight of curriculum, student, faculty, and program development activities for the SON. The chair participates in future planning for expansion of the program, clinical programming and experiences for students, and decision-making regarding community partnerships and academic relationships with the Assistant Dean for the SON. The chair oversees student performance, student achievement, and student policies. The chair fosters program growth through faculty support, student experience oversight, and curriculum development. The chair is responsible for engaging in accreditation, licensing, regulation, and certification protocols to maintain standards for the program. Responsibilities Role Overview a) Lead the program for positive outcomes, growth, and development according to current standards. b) Participate in program development initiatives such as grant writing and scholarship opportunities, for the program when available in collaboration with the Director. c) Work closely with the Director for SON, to ensure that all criteria pertaining to the program for state and national standards are met (BRN, CCNE/accreditation, AACN, NONPF). d) Hold responsibility and accountability for program related budget and spending in collaboration with the Director for SON. e) Ensures that the curriculum is developed, revised, and evaluated according to the program learning outcomes, state, and national standards. f) Measures and monitors program quality through review of student evaluations and faculty input in collaboration with the Director for SON. g) Actively engages in the student admissions process and recruitment of a qualified, diversified, and balanced student body. h) Plays a key role in hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and supporting faculty for the program in collaboration with the Asst Dean for SON. i) Engages in teaching part time for the program, according to Workload, SON, CEHS, and TUC policies. j) Maintains relations with clinical agencies, affiliate organizations, and preceptors as appropriate. k) Holds regular faculty meetings/workgroups within their department. l) Collaborates with Program administrator for key program tasks and projects. m) Supports IPE development/curriculum for the program and at the College and University level. n) Engages in appropriate committees across CEHS/TUC as the program lead Additional Responsibilities a) Manage Faculty workload and course assignments. b) Monitor and Evaluate Faculty course performance. c) Oversee total Student clinical hour/project completion. d) Maintain personal and professional development as an educator, clinician, and leader for the program. e) Maintain clinical experience as appropriate to the role. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable): should reflect who the employee is supervising and what the expectations are). --- NP Faculty in the program: Program Chair shall oversee the workload, performance, evaluation, and academic/professional progression of program faculty. The Program Chair is responsible for mitigating minor issues and reporting significant concerns to the Program Director.
