Viceroy Santa Monica1819 Ocean AvenueSanta Monica, CA 90401, USAThe Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for directing all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel. This position oversees the Sales, Marketing, Catering and Convention Services department. The Director of Sales holds a seat on the Executive Committee and reports directly to the General Manager.General Responsibilities Include: - Oversee all group inquiries including rooms with meetings
- Sell group bookings through solicitation of new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, client entertainment, site inspections and written communication
- Prepare, implement, compile data for and manage the strategic sales plan
- Work and directly communicate with ownership on a continuous basis
- Prepare and execute annual market plans
- Develop Sales and Marketing and Catering budget and forecast
- Group ceilings and strategies through review of competitive data
- Demand analysis and mix management
- Recruit, direct, manage, train and counsel staff
- Actively participate in sales presentations
- Conduct property tours, site visits and customer meetings
- Conduct/attend meetings as appropriate to the position
- Communicate progress, obstacles and promotions with the executive committee to ensure full alignment.
- Regularly evaluate future or advanced performance or process issues relating to group booking pace, backlog, reservations pace, rate yielding or conversion in an effort to identify any future revenue and performance shortfalls and upside opportunities
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market and ensure that the Sales Team is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territoriesSkills/Knowledge Required:
- Strong computer literacy, with knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Exceptional communication skills, passionate, strategic and innovative
- Able to develop strong work relationships with both Clients and Colleagues
- Self-confident, proactive, and able to prioritize and make effective decisions
- Ability to implement processes and methods
