About the role: SAGE Redwood City is expanding our Specialty Dentistry team and is looking for an enthusiastic, skilled Registered Veterinary Technician or an experienced Senior Veterinary Assistant to join us. In this role, you will support board-certified veterinary dentists in performing advanced dental and oral surgeries, diagnostic imaging, and comprehensive oral health assessments and treatments (COHATs). This is a unique opportunity to work in a specialized field and gain experience in advanced veterinary dentistry in a supportive, learning-focused environment.Key Responsibilities: - Specialized Dental Procedures: Assist with advanced dental procedures, including root canals, extractions, oral tumor removals, orthodontics, and other specialized dental surgeries.
- Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring: Perform pre-operative anesthesia setup, and monitor patients throughout procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Radiology: Take and interpret high-quality digital dental radiographs under the supervision of the DVM, assisting with diagnostics for complex dental cases.
- Instrument Care & Sterilization: Prepare, sterilize, and maintain specialized dental instruments and equipment, ensuring adherence to best practices for infection control.
- Client Education & Communication: Support client education on dental disease, home care routines, and post-operative care to improve patient outcomes.
- Recordkeeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting findings and treatments to support quality patient care and compliance.
- Supportive Patient Handling: Provide compassionate handling and care for pets during procedures, maintaining a calm, safe, and comfortable environment.Compensation for this role is between $26 - $40 hourly depending on experience and location.Qualifications
- For RVT Applicants: Active RVT license in California with a background in anesthesia and a minimum of 1 year of experience in specialty or emergency settings preferred.
- For VA Applicants: Minimum of 2 years of experience in veterinary settings, ideally with prior exposure to dentistry or specialty care.
- Proficient in anesthesia protocols, dental radiography, and surgical support.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team, clients, and doctors, with a passion for educating pet owners on dental health.
- Experience with veterinary practice management software is a plus.Benefits:
