Your Role: Consult and negotiate with clients and general contractors to prepare or refine new project scopes covering HVAC, plumbing, controls and industrial cooling designs Represent and explain proposals, systems, findings and options to clients and general contractors Perform site visits with engineers and project managers to review and evaluate existing mechanical systems and provide energy and/or performance solutions Evaluate feasibility of new equipment or modifying existing systems considering costs, available space, time limitations, energy goals, project timeline and related economic factors Assess the engineering resource needs for each project to determine the skillset and needed for new and ongoing projects Long-term forecasting of the skillsets and requirements for the Engineering Department Schedule new projects and monitor the engineering progress of ongoing projects. Perform a QA/QC on all projects both at milestone dates as well as prior to the Issue For Construction Conduct or review engineering calculations; load calculations, equipment selection, energy analysis, acoustics, psychrometric, controls, fixture loading, pressure loss, etc. performed by your team Interface with project managers and field staff throughout the design and construction of projects Ongoing assessment of each engineer's technical skillset, organization skills and productivity. Create ongoing training and development plans for each engineer as needed for their growth and development within the company Work with the engineering team leads to define the goals and initiatives for department Perform performance reviews for members of the Engineering Department Must Haves: 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience 10 years of HVAC and /or plumbing experience for commercial projects 5 years of experience leading a team of engineers Engineer in Training certificate Excellent understanding of engineering fundamentals Working knowledge of system types, equipment, installation standards and procedures Must be fully versed in local and State building codes Must be proficient in use of Trace 700, AutoCAD and Rev17 Ability to interact and coordinate design concepts with clients, architects and other trades Act as the lead engineer on projects with no supervision Excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others is essential Leadership and good communication skill Plusses: California Professional Engineering License LEED accreditation and Green Building initiatives More...
