The JCCSF Summer Camp is now hiring a Culinary Specialist for 2025!Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science, and more.Culinary camps are in session June 2 - August 22, 2025.The Culinary Specialist will create, organize, and implement multiple 1 to 2-week sessions of camp. Culinary camp is offered for campers in grades 1-5. Campers will be introduced to the world of all things cooking and hone their culinary skills through hands-on experience and exploration of technique.The Culinary Specialist position requires classroom management skills and the ability to implement a well-rounded art curriculum for youth ages 6 - 11.RESPONSIBILITIES - Organize and implement Culinary Camp curriculum
- Prepare for and deliver up to 10 weeks of camp programming, including creating supply lists, curriculum development, and teaching daily lessons
- Supervise general counselors (when applicable)
- Support camper drop-off and pick-up processes
- Provide excellent customer service to camp families by communicating with them about their camper's experience
- Set up camp room and clean up daily
- Implement daily safety checks of culinary tools
- Practice personal leadership skills
- Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors
- Additional responsibilities as requiredREQUIREMENTS
- At least 1 year as an educator
- Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate design and tool use skills for elementary school-aged campers
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
- Passion for cooking, informal education, and youth programs
- Knowledge of summer camps preferred
- Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently
- Enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to improvise are a mustWORKING CONDITIONSWill be working directly with youth ages 5-13. Camp activities take place in the on-site Catering Kitchen and other indoor spaces at the JCCSF.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWalking/standing throughout the workday.
