Join the dynamic team at the dual branded Hyatt Place Hyatt House LAX/Century Blvd. Our 400 room hotel is located less than a mile from LAX Airport and less than four miles from SoFi Stadium, you are in the heart of it at all at Hyatt Place Hyatt House LAX/Century Blvd.Scope of the Position:The Director Engineering oversees the property's facilities maintenance function and is responsible for the operation, maintenance, service and repair of equipment on site. Directs and supervises the Maintenance staff as requested by General Manager. Directs a team responsible for the maintenance of buildings and grounds, including renovations, expansions, and improvements. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities; for OEM associates, overtime does apply and is calculated accordingly. Exempt managers must customarily and regularly direct the work of at least 3 full-time associates or their equivalents. Primary duties must consist of administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50 percent of the time and job duties must also involve the use of discretion and independent judgement more than 50 percent of the time.Position Qualifications and Requirements:Education & Experience:

• College degree or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing is preferred, and/or equivalent work experience.
• Certification preferred: Senior manager and/or other certification as required by franchise.
• Previous Department managerial experience preferred.
• Strong financial knowledge and computer skills required.
• Professional Certification and license if required by law. Certification in HVAC required.
• Valid driver's license from appropriate state and MVR in good standing.Physical Demands:
  • Long hours sometimes required, including nights and weekends.
  • Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand for long hours at a time and to work in confined spaces as necessary.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results.

  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic mathematical functions.Responsibilities may include any and all of the following:
    • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
    • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with RCMI standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
