This includes diversity, equity, inclusion, access, belonging (DEIAB) and culture.Reporting to the Vice President of Admissions, the Associate Vice President of Recruitment and Outreach oversees all recruitment programs and initiatives for the Admissions department. Working closely with the VP, Admissions, this position will develop and refine recruitment strategies that address the College's enrollment and diversity goals. The incumbent will create and implement original events and programs for recruitment of prospective students to the College, working across the recruitment staff to execute these programs. The AVP will work collaboratively across the entire recruitment team to implement all manner of prospect and admitted student follow-up, conversion, counseling, and yield activities and initiatives. The position will also play an important role in conducting admissions reviews and evaluating applicant materials in alignment with departmental practices and standards to prepare files for final admissions decisions.This is a full-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position is eligible for flexible scheduling and can be performed hybrid with the expectation of at least 3 days in the office or required as a condition of employment. The demands of this work may include weekends or evenings as well as travel. The college reserves the right to modify schedules as needed to meet the business needs with appropriate notice.Essential FunctionsRecruitment Operations - 40% - Provide leadership and oversee development and implementation of all recruitment programs and initiatives, for graduate, undergraduate, and extension programs.
- Manage communications flow with prospects at all stages of the recruitment process.
- Oversee and develop strategies such as follow-up programs that affect successful admissions cycles and yield rates and may include use of alumni, students, and faculty.
- Oversee all prospect conversion programs and initiatives, leveraging the department's CRM and training staff to ensure all admitted students are effectively and consistently engaged.
- Work with the VP of Admissions to create recruitment programs focused on increasing enrollment of underrepresented students; work with direct and indirect reports to implement these programs in an integrated manner across all departmental recruitment efforts.
- Provide analysis of programs and initiatives and work to refine efforts to enhance conversion and yield.
- Enforce all College policies and work with the department of environment health and safety to maintain a safe and secure work and learning environment for students, faculty and staff.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, learning and development, and fair and equitable compensation grid placement of department staff; oversee performance evaluation process, ensure consistent use of all applicable policies and procedures, including Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA); counsel, discipline and makes recommendations in terminations.Recruitment and Outreach Events - 30%
- Develop and organize all Recruitment Events, working across the recruitment team to implement, this includes events such as but not limited to Open Houses, Portfolio Days, New Student Events, DEIAB-related Recruitment events, monthly on-campus events, on-line programs, out-of-town events for students in the U.S. and in other countries, and major-specific events or programs oriented toward certain audiences, such as our Extended Studies students or community art organizations.
- Initiate programs based on recruitment strategies, programmatic decisions, and strategic planning conducted with VP of Admissions.
- Develop a strategic system for cultivating alumni participation in recruitment events and other initiatives.
- Identify, strategize and execute outreach programming including but not limited to faculty and/or alumni led skills-based workshops with local community arts partners as it addresses access, awareness and builds a pipeline of prospective applicants to the degree programs.
- Coordinate activities with other staff members and departments at ArtCenter including division directors of Outreach and DEIAB.
- Events will include activities to increase prospective student interest in the degree and extension programs as well as programs that encourage admitted students to attend.
- Measure the effectiveness of events through analysis of data pertaining to the outcome of the events.
- Focus will include both undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Oversee the College's Campus Tour Programs, working with the recruitment team to implement.Admissions - 25%
- Conduct admissions reviews, adhering to all departmental processes and standards for applicant evaluation.
- Conduct evaluations of applications and supporting documents, making recommendations for admissions decisions to the VP of Admissions.
- Manage implementation of admitted student outreach and conversion, utilizing the department's CRM and established practices to ensure all admitted students are effectively engaged and enrolling.
- Oversee on-boarding and ongoing support for all direct and indirect reports involved in the admissions review, follow-up, and conversion processes.
- Work closely with Vice President of Admissions to stay keyed into admissions trends and analysis, adjusting implementation responsively to insights.
- Manage projects as assigned, including but not limited to developing initiatives to address under-enrolled programs, follow-up on incomplete applications, and management of admissions staff involvement in the review process.Non-Essential Functions - 5%
- Attending special events related to admissions and recruitment and other work-related activities.
- Serve on educational or college-wide committees, work groups, task forces and/or councils.
- Maintain memberships and active involvement in applicable professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution.
- Minimum of five years of progressive admissions experience with preference for previous Director of Admissions or Recruitment experience.
- Minimum of two years' experience creating and implementing strategic events and/or programs, preferably within an educational or arts organization.
- Must be versed in uses of technology for communications, data, and prospect management; adept at fostering and creating change and innovative solutions.
- Excellent management, interpersonal, leadership and administrative skills.
- 2 years of supervisory responsibilities, including developing teams, conducting performance evaluations and performance management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with colleagues, internal stakeholders, and department leadership as well as external populations of prospective students and families.
- Analytical skills for assessing qualitative and quantitative data related to program effectiveness and recruitment; experienced in effectively managing business process through a CRM system.
- Ability to be self-directed while working within a collaborative environment.
- Ability to problem solve, organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines; ability to work effectively both independently and within groups.
- Ability to handle all information with tact and discretion and recognizes the confidential nature of ArtCenter business.
- Ability to enforce and implement policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging into work practices within Art Center's diverse communities.
- Travel, evening and weekend work required.
