Our client, one of the top General Contractors nationwide, is seeking a Vice President (VP) to serve as the Business Unit Leader (BUL) for their Santa Clara office. The BUL will lead and manage multiple project teams to deliver exceptional results for their clients and generate profit for the company. This individual will identify project opportunities on multiple accounts, define the strategies needed to win work for their team and ensure that projects align with their risk tolerance and run smoothly from start to finish. This position reports to and receives direction from an Executive Vice President.The qualified candidate brings strong leadership experience and established relationships in the industry and possesses the ability to implement strategy and execute goals set forth for Santa Clara and its surrounding market. This individual possesses excellent business acumen and communication skills, a core understanding of commercial construction and general contracting, and has proven ability managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines.RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uphold safety as a top priority and monitor the business unit's safety measures and protocols to be OSHA compliant and adverse to emergencies or recordables
• Develop a long-term strategic plan to build, strengthen and maintain relationships with current and future clientele
• Leverage a pipeline of work for new and existing clients both locally and nationally, creating consistent opportunities enterprise-wide
• Act as the executive sponsor and approver for all pursuits while monitoring subcontractor usage across the company to ensure fair awarding practices and supplier diversity for the business unit
• Ensure all risk-related issues are properly documented and communicated and resolve any subcontractor disputes at the business unit level
• Perform site walks to ensure milestones are being met and review all health checks to address any challenges
• Establish and achieve revenue and profile goals and ensure the accuracy and health of the business unit's finances and profits
• Ensure proper team and resource allocation by helping to attract and recruit top and diverse talent, supporting career growth and opportunities, and develop a business unit succession plan
• Commit to leading by example and encourage engagement and transparency to create an inclusive and positive work environment
• Leverage the company's strengths and abilities to position the enterprise for success and identify opportunities to create competitive advantage in the market
• Model community contribution and represent the company in outreach efforts as well as serve on the internal executive committee to offer key insights
• Demonstrate humility and emotional intelligence and the highest level of adaptability when providing feedbackQUALIFICATIONS:
  • A four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering or business is strongly preferred
  • In lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable
  • Experience in the local Santa Clara market is strongly preferred
  • Software proficiency and the ability to adopt software systems such as Procore, scheduling tools (i.e., Microsoft Project, SureTrak, Primavera 6, etc.), Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Bluebeam, and JD Edwards
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required
  • Skilled in business communications such as writing and verbal presentation
