With 685 beds, we are home to the only comprehensive Burn and Level I Trauma center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. The 56,000 square-foot emergency department is one of the largest and busiest in California! We have an 84-bed Level III NICU and plan to significantly expand pediatric specialty care. Our hospital serves 2.5 million people within 9 counties, averaging a daily census of 641 patients. We're affiliated with UCSF as a teaching facility; trained 3,000 Medical Doctor's to date plus continuous invests in research and training grants. Responsibilities:
  Performs Electroencephalograms (EEGs), ambulatory EEGs and, as authorized, Nerve Conduction Velocity testing. Records electrical activity of the patient's brain to study epilepsy, convulsive disorders and localizing lesions in the cerebrum. Assists Neurologist in maintaining Neurodiagnostic Laboratory and identifying abnormal neurological disorders. Interacts professionally and respectfully with patients and/or families.--Accountabilities--1. Ensures quality care, safety, and general comfort of the patient undergoing testing procedures, and provides care appropriate to condition and age of patient, neonate through geriatric population.2. Prepares and cleans exam areas for daily workload. Cleans the head electrodes between patients with warm water and detergent followed by a sanitizing agent. Requests medical supplies needed for performing the EEG procedures.3. Obtains patient's medical history from both the chart and patient themself. Records and protects medical information according to regulation.4. Accurately places electrodes on the patient's scalp and extremities according to the ASET (American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists) 10-20 system. Reports reactions and unusual physiological phenomenon.5. Performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic testing on patients exhibiting a variety of physical and emotional states. Progresses towards multi-departmental, neurodiagnostic procedures or coverage.6. Positions, transfers, and prepares patients as necessary for examination.7. Communicates preliminary report and sends all typed final EEG reports to the referring physician.8. Schedules and coordinates patient testing with nursing and allied care staff. Educates patient/family about procedure performed.9. Operates equipment safely and correctly and performs preventative maintenance. Reports any discovered equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.10. Assists lead staff with monitoring work flow and operations issues. Makes performance recommendations.11. Completes department upkeep: answers phones, enters data into spreadsheets, prepares monthly statistical information, registers patients into system, and maintains record logs. Provides front office coverage as needed.12. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned. Qualifications:
  Education--- High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required--- Engaged in self-study program for at least one type of registration or certification preferred--Experience--- 6 months of relevant experience required--- 1 year of EEG Tech experience preferred--Licenses and Certifications--- BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required-- Disclaimers:
