Job Summary


UCSF is seeking a dedicated and experienced Digital Accessibility Program Manager who will serve as the expert on digital accessibility, ensuring our digital assets meet the highest standards and best practices for accessibility. This pivotal role involves managing the UCSF Digital Accessibility Program, supervising program staff, and overseeing accessibility operations to improve user experience and customer satisfaction across all areas of UCSF's mission.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Lead and manage the UCSF Digital Accessibility Program, supervising program staff, setting performance expectations, and overseeing day-to-day operations.
  • Act as an expert on digital accessibility, applying standards and best practices to ensure the accessibility of UCSF's digital assets including websites, videos, applications, and electronic documents.
  • Lead UCSF's A11y (Accessibility) community, engaging with diverse stakeholders to foster an inclusive digital environment.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Accessibility and Inclusion Officer, IT, Risk Management, Legal, and Procurement teams to integrate accessibility considerations into programs and procedures.
  • Represent UCSF on systemwide accessibility committees and centers of excellence.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to enhance accessibility and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Work with Enterprise Systems leadership to develop and implement strategic plans and policies to advance digital accessibility at UCSF.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of accessibility initiatives, making recommendations for continuous improvement.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. UCSF is technologically and organizationally complex, with both centralized and departmental IT units providing support for enterprise and specialized services. UCSF IT provides education, research, and health technology services, along with shared infrastructure, security, analytics, application, and customer support services, and is essential to the organization's ability to support growth, mitigate security risk, and manage, store and share sensitive information. This position works closely with the Web Services and Developer Experience teams and works on technology and content that affect all aspects of UCSF's mission.


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
    • 5+ years experience and solid knowledge of all aspects of digital accessibility, including design concepts, various media, applications, strategic planning, etc.
    • 3+ years experience and advanced knowledge in the following areas: digital accessibility risk management; accessibility measurement and analysis; inventory management; vendor engagement; knowledge of common organization-specific computer application programs; knowledge of organizational processes and procedures; understanding of organizational rules and regulations.
    • Solid knowledge of the current laws, policies, trends, and potential future developments in the digital accessibility field.
    • Solid knowledge of the organization, including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices and infrastructure.
    • Solid knowledge and skills in personnel administration and management techniques, including understanding of guiding principles, relevant laws, policies and best practices.
    • Solid skills to select, train, supervise, guide and evaluate subordinate staff, and take corrective action as required.
    • Advanced ability to develop course materials and deliver content effectively to diverse populations.
    • Advanced interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, active listening skills, and effective team leadership skills.
    • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Solid problem recognition, avoidance, and resolution skills.
    • Solid project management and strategic planning skills.
    • In depth ability to concisely present complex risk findings and make recommendations verbally and in writing.


      Preferred Qualifications

      • ADS, CPACC, CPWA, IAAP, or WAS certification
      • Work experience related to digital accessibility in a higher education and/or healthcare environment.
