The Engineering leader will be part of the Payments team and will be responsible for a) leading a team for pay-ins and payouts to support money movement across US and International, and b) (re)architecting our payments platform to scale for the future. This role will be tasked with retaining, building, and leading a high performing and highly engaged engineering team. They will help the business scale through private and public phases of our company-building journey.As the Head of Engineering on the Payments team, you'll lead a team of 15+ engineers and managers, supporting them in their continued growth and success. You'll collaborate with a talented cross-functional team of Product, Design, and Data partners, focusing on building payments experiences that delight customers.Key Responsibilities: - Develop the engineering team across pay-ins and payouts to help build the long-term vision of the payments team at Gusto.
- Lead, empower and coach a team across engineering for payments to drive technical guidance and consistent execution of the next generation of payments capabilities.
- Enable reliable, efficient, compliant and cost-effective end-to-end payments and money movement.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including product design, data science and growth teams.
