That's what makes us Roche.Roche Diagnostics is seeking a talented and motivated research scientist to join our computational biology research and early development team to contribute to early research and development of state-of-the-art next generation sequencing based liquid biopsy diagnostic assays. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field, and will be instrumental in analyzing genomic data and developing algorithms to support the innovation and development of novel next generation sequencing workflows and their application in the translational setting towards innovative sequencing based liquid biopsy diagnostic solutions.The Opportunity: - Be part of a growing, talented and dynamic team.
- Contribute to large interdisciplinary cross-organizational collaborations with global impact.
- Develop and apply computational tools for the analysis of high-throughput genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic data.
- Collaborate with experimental and computational researchers to design, analyze, and interpret molecular experiments.
- Work with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data including but not limited to RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Methyl-Seq, Hybrid Capture and Whole Genome Sequencing.
- Use existing analytical tools and packages together with custom scripting and algorithm development to uncover insights from complex datasets.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations of findings for stakeholders and team meetings.
- Support the maintenance and operation of bioinformatics infrastructure.
- Career development and upskilling.Who you are:
- You hold a Master's degree with 4 years of relevant experience or a PhD with 2 years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Genetics, or a related field.
- You have proven analytical experience working with raw NGS data types (FASTQ and BAM) from genomic, Methyl-seq or ChIP-seq experiments.
- You are proficient in Python and Bash programming.
- You have experience with bioinformatics programming tools and databases (e.g., Conda, Git, Bioconductor, Biopython, BLAST, BWA, SAMtools, BedTools, DeepTools, GATK, UCSC Genome Browser etc).Preferred Qualifications:
