Now we're building the next generation of paper, and that includes bringing Notability to Android. We are looking for an engineering manager to help oversee and build the Android version of Notability. You'll work hands-on in the code, guide the team through tough architectural discussions and decisions, and direct them toward company objectives, all while coaching each team member toward autonomy, identity, ownership, and technical leadership.This role is hybrid, 2+ days per week in the San Francisco office, and other days from home.What You'll Do

• Perform all duties of a direct manager, including recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, goal setting, performance management, and professional development.
• A hands-on leader: you enjoy collaborating and mentoring while also contributing to the codebase yourself.
• Lead with empathy and foster a culture of trust, empowerment, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure members of your team are happy, productive, and recognized across the organization.
• Help define, establish, and improve our processes.
• Work with the team to solve challenging technical problems.
• Build a high-performance native Android application that our customers genuinely love!What You Need
  • 5+ years of experience developing, architecting, optimizing, and shipping high performance Android applications written in Kotlin.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects.
  • 2+ years of experience in people management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication & collaboration skills.
  • Passionate about solutions while humble in the face of opposing ideas.
  • Desire to embrace the way engineering is changing (more immutable data, functional patterns, etc) while also being intensely pragmatic.
  • Experience with CRDTs is a plus.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose is highly preferred.How We WorkEach member of our team contributes to all parts of our products.
