Your design will be subject to safety and efficacy requirements.The level of title will be determined case by case, based on the candidate's qualifications and years of experience: Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer or higher.Horizon Surgical Systems Inc. is seeking Electrical Engineers with significant experience in robotics and medical device product development to contribute to a novel surgical robotic system for ophthalmology.Qualifications:
    • Degrees in relevant disciplines such as electrical, computer, or robotics engineering.
    • Experience in architecting computational and electrical hardware systems for safety-critical robotic systems that include real-time, AI, and image-guided subsystems.
    • Electrical design of robotic systems and/or medical devices.
    • Experience in PCB design, component selection, and wiring.
    • Design experience in compliance with FDA guidelines and relevant standards including IEC 60601-1 and IEC60601-1-2.
    • Hands-on prototyping, debugging, and testing experience.
    • Sufficient programming ability in languages/software such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ to design, test, and analyze performance of developed hardware systems.Expectations and Responsibilities:
      • Lead and participate in teams, and work independently, to develop the electro-mechanical subsystems of a complete surgical robotic system able to pass relevant electrical testing standards including IEC 60601-1 and IEC60601-1-2.
      • Lead and participate in the documentation of the electrical aspects of said surgical robotic system.
      • Lead and participate in the hands-on prototyping, debugging, and testing of said surgical robotic system.
      • Adhere to and contribute to design standards, the Quality Management System, and project planning.
      • Apply all available tools, software, training, and experience to effectively analyze and solve engineering problems, mitigate potential risks, and maximize system functionality and safety.
      • Assist and cooperate with other teams and colleagues to find solutions to interdisciplinary challenges inherent in complex robot system development.
      • Commute to, and work on-site, at our Malibu-based office.
