Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.Job SummaryAs a Principal Electrical Engineer at Red 6, you will lead the development of next-generation augmented reality systems. You will oversee all aspects of the electrical hardware development lifecycle from requirements to design, test, and integration. You will be deeply involved in the development of new system architectures. This will necessitate an ability to derive electrical subsystem requirements from higher-level product requirements.The responsibilities of this role also include managing and mentoring other EEs, board layout specialists, and technicians, managing their workload, providing expert technical guidance to deliver world-class products to our customers. The Principal EE will also work to continuously improve efficiency and quality of output through implementation and evolution of industry-leading design processes and procedures.Key Responsibilities - Responsible for architecting, designing, developing, modifying, evaluating, and integrating electronic equipment, electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for complex, high-performance hardware systems.
- Oversee all aspects of the electrical hardware development lifecycle from requirements to design, test, integration, and manufacturing.
- Evaluate various design approaches and use data-based methodical methods to down-select to plan-of-record design directions.
- Analyze electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
- May use high-level programming language to configure programmable logic devices.
- Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.
- Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
- Able to identify component operational characteristics that may impact system performance and sustainability.
- Contribute to proposals and estimates of budget and schedule to meet program objectives.
- Task and mentor more junior Engineers, offering expert technical guidance to the entire team. Establish and evolve best practices for the Electrical Engineering department.Experience, Skills and Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or directly related field.
- 10+ years of prior relevant experience
- Requires proficient knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
- Experience with high-speed memories such as DDR3/DDR4 and high-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe 3.0/4.0, DisplayPort, USB 3.0, Ethernet.
- Experience with FPGAs, SoCs, firmware, and embedded software development.
- Familiarity with standard lab equipment - oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers.
- Altium experience would be a PLUS.
- Should have experience with military standards and hardware qualification processes such as EMI, thermal, vibration, etc.
- Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship.Salary: $170,000 to $200,000, depending on experience.Benefits
