Job Description US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED#LI-SMOOTWe are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager of Space Sensing and Space Domain Awareness missions and capabilities to perform strategy, business development, business capture, and portfolio management supporting the Military Space (MS) business unit. This role will involve external facing marketing and strategy and management of internal efforts to support new business capture activities and strategic portfolio efforts. A successful candidate must have a strong technical background in space-based capabilities, have experience working with DOD space acquisition and operations communities, and possess collaborative leadership qualities.The Military Space Strategic Business Unit delivers innovative space systems that drive mission success and provide resilient and persistent mission-level solutions to deter threats and counter emerging capabilities for the Department of Defense.What You'll Do: - Develop and monitor capture activities including definition of tasks, budgets, and schedules.
- Define, secure, organize, and direct staff, resources, standards, processes, procedures, and tools essential for the successful completion of capture activities (from interest to program bid & award).
- Provide leadership, knowledge, mentoring, and enable continuous staff development in supporting new business and capture activities.
- Manage Space Sensing elements of the Space Warfighting mission area strategic vision and prioritize opportunities to align with it.
- Develop plans and strategies to capture opportunities.
- Manage business development and engineering personnel to carry out capture plans and strategies, and to produce solutions that meet customers' mission needs.
- Lead the preparation of responses to customer opportunities, including white papers, proposals, rough order of magnitude estimates and responses to customer requests for information.
- Coordinate inputs from support organizations including engineering, contracts, finance, security, and others as needed.
- Maintain productive relationships and coordinate contacts with key government and industry customers.
- Consult, mentor, and/or support the pursuits and programs of other business development managers as needed.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI Polygraph security clearance is required.
- Strong background in current Space Domain/Situational Awareness and Space Traffic Management systems, capabilities and overall marketplace, including government and commercial priorities.
- Strong background in classified aerospace sensing systems with emphasis on experience across functionality of complete Mission Segment (space, ground, spacecraft, payload, BMC3) and TCPED capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic initiatives and developing strategic plans.
- Demonstrated experience with scoping and executing internal research and development (IRAD) programs.
- Demonstrated experience managing program / project budgets or cost accounts in excess of $5M.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with demanding customers, difficult schedules, and technically challenging projects.
- Experience in supporting DoD and/or IC proposals as well as knowledge of government acquisition processes and strategies.
- A self-starter with the ability to understand the big picture as well as technical, budget and schedule issues at the detail level.
- Comfortable and competent with MS Office computer tools including: Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Office.
- Excellent communication skills.
