Chemours is seeking a Lab Operating Technician to join our growing Chemours Experimental Station Operations team! This position will report directly to the Research Lab Supervisor at our Wilmington, DE location. This key role is responsible for operation of high hazard chemical processes of varying scales, as well front-line troubleshooting and maintenance activities for assigned equipment. This role is largely shift based, with 12 hour rotating schedules. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: - Lab and pilot scale operation of high hazard chemical processes at the 100 mL to 200 gallon scale, including polymerizations, batch and continuous reactions, distillations, and supporting utility operations.
- Handling and manipulation of chemicals: compressed gas cylinders, 55 gal drums, half ton cylinders, tube trailers.
- Management and safe execution of lab work of wet chemistry experiments using corrosive, toxic, and flammable chemicals.
- Monitoring and adjustment of chemical processes using automated instrumentation and control systems and strategies.
- Documenting and auditing specific operating, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Troubleshooting chemical reactions, mechanical processes, controls, analytical, or laboratory issues.
The following is required for this role: - High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 - 2 years of industrial or manufacturing experience
- Understanding of basic chemistry and math principles
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and understand complex Standard Operating Procedures
- Self-motivation, able to work independently to complete given tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications with a focus on data entry, such as Word, Excel, SharePoint
- Ability to wear an air-line respirator and acid suit, work in close quarters, and climb ladders/steps Donned in full PPE
- Ability to lift 45 lbs. and move drums/containers using correct ergonomic methods
- Basic mechanical skills for using small hand tools
