Chemours is seeking an R&D Chemical Engineerto join our growing Thermal & Specialized Solutions team in the Process Development R&D group. This position will be available at the Chemours Discovery Hub, in Newark, Delaware, and the Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware and report directly to the Technology Manager. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: - Design and execute research plans for lab-scale reaction pathway exploration safely and independently, including heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis.
- Design, build, and commission pilot equipment for scaling up chemistry demonstrated on the lab-scale
- Complete rigorous hazards analysis and safety documentation for new processes
- Interpret and analyze results and make suggestions on alternative approaches or improvements
- Share conclusions broadly and continue experiments as needed with minimal guidance
- Interface with senior technical researchers to set the objectives & priorities for the various tests
- Provide data to guide research programs and to prepare patent applications
- Ensure laboratory and analytical measurement systems are in good working condition and to make upgrades as needed
The following is required for this role: - Bachelor's (+8 to 10 years experience), Master's (+5 or more years of experience), or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering
- Good interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, and the ability to work well with all levels in the organization
- Self-motivated, independent research leadership with critical-thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems
- Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
- Ability to work in a team environment with high degree of initiative and self-motivation and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely
