Shift: NOC (19:00 - 07:00)/ 3 X 12s --- 36 hrs / Week/ 12 hrs / Day Schedule: 2 years of experience min required RN License required in hand Shift 7P - 7A, 36gww, 13 week Weekends and Holidays required On call rotation required NRP, BLS required, ACLS preferred Tuesday Starts Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Labor and Delivery unit is responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients during the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases. The RN collaborates with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and supportive environment for mothers and their newborns. Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment: Perform comprehensive assessments of pregnant patients, including monitoring vital signs, fetal heart rates, and contractions, and identifying any complications.
  • Labor Support: Provide physical and emotional support to patients during labor, assisting with pain management strategies and positioning.
  • Delivery Assistance: Assist physicians and midwives in the delivery process, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and sterile procedures.
  • Postpartum Care: Monitor the health and recovery of both the mother and newborn, including checking vital signs, managing bleeding, and ensuring proper breastfeeding techniques.
  • Education: Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding support.
  • Emergency Response: Quickly recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, such as preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, or fetal distress.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient care, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including anesthesiologists, neonatal nurses, and pediatricians, to provide holistic care. Qualifications:
    • Current RN license in the state of practice.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery.
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required or must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and their families.
    • Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments while maintaining composure and delivering excellent care. Preferred Skills and Experience:
      • Knowledge of pain management techniques, including epidural and non-pharmacological methods.
