Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Perform comprehensive assessments of pregnant patients, including monitoring vital signs, fetal heart rates, and contractions, and identifying any complications.
- Labor Support: Provide physical and emotional support to patients during labor, assisting with pain management strategies and positioning.
- Delivery Assistance: Assist physicians and midwives in the delivery process, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and sterile procedures.
- Postpartum Care: Monitor the health and recovery of both the mother and newborn, including checking vital signs, managing bleeding, and ensuring proper breastfeeding techniques.
- Education: Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding support.
- Emergency Response: Quickly recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, such as preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, or fetal distress.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient care, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including anesthesiologists, neonatal nurses, and pediatricians, to provide holistic care. Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required or must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and their families.
- Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments while maintaining composure and delivering excellent care. Preferred Skills and Experience:
