Simply said, we use our chemistry to change lives, shape markets, and redefine industries-one improvement at a time. Chemours is seeking an IP Senior Counsel to join our growing Legal team! This is a hybrid position that will report directly to the Chief IP Counsel at our Wilmington, DE location. Occasional travel to Newark, Delaware will be required. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: - Developing and managing a global patent portfolio, including working with foreign agents and attorneys, US outside counsel as needed, and in-house legal assistants, paralegals, patent agents, and attorney colleagues.
- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications globally.
- Working with business and technical colleagues to develop and implement patent strategies involving freedom-to-operate, patent procurement, enforcement, and offensive and defensive patent invalidations proceedings around the world.
- Working with IP counsel colleagues to support technical analysis on patent validity and infringement matters.
- Conducting periodic patent portfolio reviews to support alignment with business and technical strategy.
- Managing legal costs and resources.
The following is required for this role: - Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Admitted to practice and in good standing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Admitted to practice, active member, and in good standing in a state bar.
- At least 5 plus years of relevant experience in chemical patent practice.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability, including managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely and build relationships with domestic and international business and technical colleagues.
