GENERAL SUMMARY: Utility/Prep Cook Associates participate in providing a total quality dining service program. This includes thorough cleaning of dishware, flatware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, equipment, and facilities to meet sanitation standards. Utility Associates may also perform a variety of food preparation duties such as preparing cold foods and shellfish, slicing meat, prepping salads, desserts, hot food prep and brewing coffee or tea. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - General duties include but are not limited to: cleaning, mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, and dusting kitchen and dining room, and food prep as assigned.
- Wash and ensuring dishes, pots and pans, and utensils are at the highest standards of cleanliness
- Cleans dishwasher machine inside and out after each shift
- Maintains a neat appearance of working areas and cleaning equipment storage areas
- Cleans floor drains as scheduled and as needed
- Reports to the Cook or Executive Chef any equipment and supplies that are needed
- Ensures the proper use of equipment and supplies and upholds cleaning and safety standards
- Must be in company uniform and resident ready at all times KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contacts
- Able to make independent decisions
- Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner
- Must be able to follow recipes and menus
- Must be able to follow direction and prepare meals when the head cook is absent
- Must fully understand the importance of reliability and timeliness
- Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in professional food service is preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: - Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
- Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions
- Able to work under stress and in emergency situations
- Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping
- Able to talk and hear effectively in order to convey instructions and information to residents and team members
