Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth!This role is part ofEngineering & Program Management(EPM) where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. EPM allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will facilitate software configuration management and control for various spaceflight systems. You will provide essential contributions to the team's impact on all aspects of software configuration management for each phase of the development lifecycle. You will be expected to lead software design integration within the overall vehicle configuration. You will coordinate regular configuration reviews to align software development and change activities, including code, requirements, and software version control.Other duties will include guiding multi-functional teams through the software change process; supporting the resolution of integration issues with lead engineers and their respective teams; and developing or managing control documents associated with interface definitions between subsystems. Setting up, and leading Change Control Board Meetings will be included in your basic responsibilities.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. - Support definition of requirements and use cases for configuration management tools for workflow/tool enhancements and automation
- Monitor and assist in the Implementation of CM plans and approved processes
- Ensuring the team adheres to the configuration management standard methodologies as well as Blue Origin configuration management standards
- Maintaining and reporting on development activities and technical issues
- Clear communication and collaboration with all development teams involved in projectsMinimum Qualifications
- B.S. degree in engineering, computer science, or related discipline and 8+ years of proven ability in aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or other related industries.
- Experience with the software development lifecycle and associated configuration management processes used for highly integrated and sophisticated products
- Proven software configuration control experience on recently developed products from early trade studies through final design and into manufacturing and testing, maintenance, and sustaining.
- Familiar with DO-178C (or B)
- Experience with software configuration identification, baselines, and release processes, as well as problem reporting, including tracking of problem reports against specific baselines/releases
- Management of multiple configuration variants of a common design baseline.
- Management of software design changes with varying effectivity across multiple products
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture
