The RF Satellite Engineer position at MacDill AFB, FL supports the Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSM-O II), Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). The JCSE team provides en-route, early entry, scalable C4 support to Regional Combatant Commands, Special Operations Command, and other agencies. In this role, you will be responsible for new capability requirements and design, system assessments, and providing hands-on engineering support. Key elements of this position include: Providing SATCOM support with configuring and troubleshooting SATCOM modems, terminals, and RF waveform. Identifying if issues are related atmospheric anomalies or weather conditions. Providing operational support, coordination and contact with satellite support centers and controllers for both commercial and military SATCOM.Responsibilities include: - Provision/monitor/de-activate SATCOM missions
- Provision, monitor, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection sensors (IDS), SATCOM modems, virtual environments, servers, VoIP gateways/managers/SBC, UCS video, NSA Type 1 High Assurance IP Encryptor (HAIPE), and network functional virtual (NFV) devices.
- Troubleshoot routing protocols and end-to-end system performance from the customer terminal/system though to services required.
- Willingness to cross train and support multiple technologies in an operational environment including Network, Voice, VDI/Virtualization.
- Support the system adherence to industry standards, DOD standards, DOD policies, DOD instructions, DOD directives, cybersecurity policies, and best commercial practices.
- Utilize ticketing systems for detailed documentation of outages and network change activities.
- Provide technical problem resolution and detailed documentation for a wide range of network infrastructure problems or anomalies.
- This position requires flexibility to support 24x7 Network Operations including 12 hour shifts as required.Minimum Qualifications to be considered for the job:
