The OpportunityThe Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences (COS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for an instructor or lecturer position in the Film and Media Production and Management degree areas. This job is a 9-month, non-tenure earning, annually renewable position that offers a clear career path with the possibility of promotion based on years of service and performance.The selected candidate will contribute to the mission of the Film and Mass Media program by teaching undergraduate courses and, depending on the highest degree attained, may teach at the graduate level and support the Film MFA degree by providing critiques, mentoring, and serving on graduate thesis committees.Instructional duties, based on the current workload policy, include teaching four courses each semester (Spring/Fall).Other typical responsibilities include providing appropriate service in student advising (academic and career) and actively participating in the academic life of the school. This includes attending faculty meetings and graduations, assessing student learning, and engaging in committee work. These activities are integral to our commitment to student success and academic excellence.External service expectations may include work with appropriate academic bodies and professional organizations.Additionally, we are especially interested in a candidate who can contribute through their teaching and service to the excellence of our academic community and foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.The NSCM Media Production and Management program offers a BA with tracks in Production or Media Management and Operations. For more information, visit .Minimum Qualifications: - A master's degree (for an instructor) or a terminal degree (MFA) or Ph.D. (for a lecturer) in radio-television, mass media production, film production or a related field (e.g., film arts, mass communication, etc.), from an accredited institution.Applicants with a bachelor's degree as their highest degree will be considered for an instructor only if they can document a minimum of five years of exceptional professional experience with the film and mass media industry.
- Expertise in film and media studio production technologies and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications: - At least one year of college-level teaching experience in one or more of the following: videography, cinematography, studio/control room production, lighting, editing, production management, audio production, or media management.
- Teaching or training experience (e.g. tutoring, holding workshops, creating tutorial videos, etc.) in different modalities including face-to-face and online.
- Experience teaching hands-on production courses.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative educational environment with faculty, students, and administrators.
- Experience teaching across both mass media and film degree programs.
- Professional experience and fluency in studio/control room live production, videography, lighting, editing and post-production workflows, post-sound design, color grading, or mixing.
