We have an exciting opportunity to join our Development team as a Temporary Development Specialist, Walk MS.The Temporary Development Specialist, Walk MS is an ambassador for the National MS Society alwaysstriving to engage participants and volunteers with the mission.The Temporary Development Specialist, Walk MS will manage an event portfolioof participantsand teams for Walk MS in order to achieve fundraising goals and ensure a positive event experience.The Temporary Development Specialist, Walk MS will cultivate positive relationships with event participants, teams, volunteer committees, and corporate and community supporters.The Temporary Development Specialist, Walk MS supports the implementation and successful execution of fundraising campaigns for local Walk MS events. This position provides support and coaching to individual participants, teams, and top fundraising clubs to ensure fundraising goals are met. Responsible for the recruitment, engagement, cultivation, and retention of Top Fundraisers, teams, and individual participants for assigned portfolio of Walk events. - Works with Development leadership to support the execution of the Walk MS operational plan that focus on acquisition, retention and cultivation of top fundraisers, teams, participants, sponsors, etc.
- Manages mid-level portfolios that include teams, top fundraisers, participants, sponsors, volunteers, etc.
- Actively participate in committee meetings, recruitment, kick-off and recognition events
- Develop strong networks within the local community, cold call, and grow prospects for potential revenue and volunteer opportunities; increase Walk MS visibility and brand awareness.
- Collaborate with the market staff to implement successful team fundraising and recruitment weeks to maximize these efforts.
- Regularly monitor the performance of the fundraising portfolio to ensure timely responsiveness to new registrants, to recognize fundraising and recruitment milestones and to maximize retention.
- Leverage mission-related resources to engage participants during the year and motivate increased fundraising.Facilitates Volunteer Engagement for fundraising and event experience in the assigned event revenue portfolio
- Cultivates volunteers, seeks and provides feedback and shares opportunities for reciprocal growth and learning.
- Collaborates with key staff to maximize engagement and results of committees to increase outreach, acquisition and awareness
- Encourage volunteer involvement on the part of teams and participant's connections to enhance the efforts and expand team/participant engagement with the Society.
- Other duties as assigned.Minimum Education:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science preferably in non-profit management, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing and/or Business
- 6 years in event management and building relationships will be accepted in lieu of degree.Minimum Experience:
- At least 2 years of related experience, preferably in non-profit fundraising, events, or volunteer management
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others to accomplish goals and objectives
- Ability to build productive relationships with participants, volunteers, donors, and colleagues
- Must be a strong team player
- Professional demeanor; excellent written and verbal communication skills
