Job Category:Nursing - Registered NurseWork Shift/Schedule:12 Hr Evening - MorningNortheast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities.About the Role:Medical Critical Care Unit is a 6-bed critical care unit that provides comprehensive care to medical patients requiring intense monitoring and nursing care.The scope of care includes the medical and nursing management of patients: (1) who experience the acute onset of any disease affecting any organ system, (2) who is at risk of developing life-threatening complications as a result of their acute disease state or injury, and (3) who suffer exacerbations of chronic disease states. Patient care in the Medical Critical Care Unit includes early detection and prevention of complications, management of complex physiological problems, patient/family education and family psychosocial support systems. Patients who suffer from reversible disease and are admitted for aggressive medical treatment that cannot be provided elsewhere in the hospital. Some examples are patients with: - Respiratory failure
- Hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and/or close observation
- Drug overdose if medically unstable
- Multisystem Organ Failure
- Hyperglycemia / Hypoglycemia
- COVID-19Therapies in the MCCU may include peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and conventional ventilation support. Monitoring includes central venous pressure, pulmonary artery, arterial line, electrocardiogram, pulse oximetry, and apnea monitoring.Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
- Educational Requirements: Associate's Degree, ADN or Diploma required
- Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience - Demonstrated competence in RN I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire
