We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.DescriptionThe Associate Museum Director of Public Programs (AMD-PP) is responsible for directing the public programs for the Carlos Museum. Reporting to the Museum Director, the AMD-PP works across the museum to develop an integrated program of exhibitions, lectures, seminars, performances, and learning activities for schools and adults. At the heart of the program is a three-year rolling program for exhibitions, managed by the AMD-PP in close consultation with museum and guest curators.Preferred candidates will have experience building affiliate groups (including but not limited to donors and community advisory groups) and working with university faculty, staff, and student affinity groups.Should be an accomplished communicator, able to speak on behalf of the museum to the public, students, the media, faculty peers and donors. Desire someone who is a passionate advocate for social change committed to building strategies for community outreach.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - The AMD-PP is tasked with ensuring programs are promoted in a timely manner and that information on the website is up to date.
- Oversees the work of the Education, Exhibitions and Marketing departments, assisted by a program manager who is responsible for project management and delivery, and has four direct reports.
- Within the framework of the Emory University Libraries and Museum division, collaborates closely with colleagues in the libraries and Emory Center for Digital Scholarship (ECDS) to develop and deliver collaborative projects.
- Develops a masterplan for public programs that sets out the key ideas, target audiences and cultures-of-interest that will be covered by the programs.
- Develops and delivers the museum's exhibitions.
- Leads in interpretive planning and oversight on the exhibition design process, managed by the Director of Exhibitions.
- Manages the budget for the unit. Oversees the development and delivery of the museum's public-facing programs, including lectures, seminars, talks, demonstrations, courses, school programs and online learning, managed by the Director of Education.
- Oversees the museum's marketing and communications, managed by the Director of Marketing and Communications and the university's communications team.
- Responsible for the project management of all public programs and initiatives, supported by the Program Manager.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
