All faculty at Georgia State are, as part of their essential job duties, expected to: (1) be physically present on-campus as needed to contribute to Georgia State's in-person educational experience, and (2) be able to teach in each of the following instructional modalities - in-person, online, or blended/hybrid - as determined by their Department Chair or Dean. Position Description Lectureships at GSU are non-tenure-track faculty positions, which are indefinitely renewable and can lead to promotion to Senior Lecturer and Principal Lecturer, based on excellence in teaching and appropriate service. Typical teaching load is 4/4. AOS: Open, with preference for AI Ethics or Philosophy of Computing AOC: Open, with preference for PPE and/or Philosophy of Race. Roughly half the teaching will be a new interdisciplinary undergraduate course, "Ethics of Computing," which would help to support a new Bachelors of Information Technology program in Computer Science. Other courses will depend on the teaching expertise of the hire and departmental and university needs. The Department has been very successful at retaining Lecturers and promoting them to higher ranks. Lecturers are voting members of the Department, and the University fully supports their professional development. Starting salary is expected to be $60,000 per year, depending on experience, with the possibility for additional compensation for summer teaching (10% per course). - Demonstrated ability to effectively teach Ethics of Computing, Ethics of Data Science, and/or AI Ethics.
